Madder Lake

Madder lake is an Alchemical Arts speciality.

Having honed and refined our recipe for many years now, we are proud to say that we make some of the finest madder lake you will find.

Each batch of the pigment is crafted using traditional 19th century methods and results in a very Alizarin rich pigment.

| Lightfastness: Good

| Medium Suitability: Watercolour, Egg Tempera, Oil & Acrylic.

Coal Black

This Coal Black is prepared from locally ground and washed coal found in the Hunter Vally Victoria.

It has a wonderfully deep and strong black colour that is ever so slightly warm.

The warmness of this black gives it a very rich velvety appearance and the structure of the particles causes the pigment to have a decently matte finish in most painting mediums.

| Lightfastness: Excellent

| Medium Suitability: Watercolour, Egg Tempera, Oil & Acrylic.

Yellow Ochre

This locally sourced Yellow Ochre that has been hand ground and washed to produce a lovely earthy yellow.

Found in the historic goldfields of Victoria, Australia.

The pigment has many of the qualities you would expect from a classic European ochre, coupled with its own local colour profile.

| Lightfastness: Excellent

| Medium Suitability: Watercolour, Egg Tempera, Oil & Acrylic.

Burnt Umber

Locally sourced Earth pigment that has been hand ground and washed to produce a lovely deep earthy tone.

This Burnt Umber is a blend of a roasted earth pigment and manganese dioxide, resulting in a rich deep dark brown earth pigment.

The pigment has many of the qualities you would expect from a classic European Umber, coupled with its own local colour profile.

| Lightfastness: Excellent

| Medium Suitability: Watercolour, Egg Tempera, Oil & Acrylic.

Maya Blue

Maya Blue is a historically unique and interesting pigment that was first developed over 1200 years ago in the central Americas .

Maya Blue is a remarkably stable pigment that is unlike other pigments that are of plant origin. It is cable of being very resistant to chemical damage, is extremely stable and lightfast.

It has been shown to remain bright and vibrant for thousands years.

The Alchemical arts Maya blue pigment has been hand manufactured using a mix on ancient and modern techniques to produce a beautiful naturalistic blue/green turquoise.

The pigment has been produced from a natural indigo source and Australian attapulgite clay.

| Lightfastness: Excellent
