Description

This is a very warm variant of a Mars Black pigment that is crafted from Iron salts to create a rich and dark Iron Oxide pigment.

The paint transitions from a rich warm black when applied heavily through to very deep, warm coal tar browns and tones that are reminiscent of Van Dyke Brown. This warmness leads to a very different experience to that of a traditional Mars Black but we feel that our Mars Black has a lot of versatility in its ability to range from black through to deep brown.

* We use a mixture of historic and contemporary techniques to produce each pigment used in our paints *

The Method: 

| We grind each pigment with a binder, which consists of the finest Gum Arabic, Organic Honey, Glycerin and Water.

| Over the course of 2-3 weeks, this mixture is poured into half-pans. This results in an exceptional quality paint with a truly unique colour experience.

| The Alchemical Arts uses historic and traditional methods when preparing our pigments. This makes for a very organic colour range with highly authentic results. Each pigment takes on its own unique subtleties, richness, handling and optical qualities.

Ingredients: Mars black pigment, gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, honey
