Madder Lake – Rust Tone

This is a unique take on a traditional Madder Lake pigment.

During the manufacture of the Madder Lake pigment, several washing of the madder root are undertaken.

This pigment has been created from those washings and the result is this lovely alizarin rich, crimson pigment that has very warm, rusty, brown undertones.

More crimson than an ochre and more rusty than a pure madder lake this unique pigment gives you a rich, naturalistic, earthy tone.
